Born in Korea and raised in Oregon, Peter Cho has become a defining voice in Portland’s food scene. After graduating from the University of Oregon, he spent 12 years in New York City working his way up to executive chef and director within a Michelin-starred restaurant group. In 2016, Cho and his wife, Sun Young Park, returned to Oregon and opened Han Oak, their Korean-American restaurant set inside their home, followed by Toki in 2021. In 2023, they opened Jeju, a wood-fired Korean barbecue restaurant centered on whole-animal butchery and locally sourced, sustainably raised ingredients. Across his restaurants, Cho blends tradition with innovation while fostering mentorship and learning for emerging chefs.

We’re excited to welcome Peter to STEELPORT, where he’ll demonstrate the knife skills central to Korean cuisine and prepare samples of a dish for everyone to enjoy.
