No kitchen is complete without a bread knife. The STEELPORT Bread Knife is designed to perform equally well cutting bread with hard crusts and softer loafs. It can also be used as a serrated slicer for cutting through BBQ meats, and other hard crust foods.
The STEELPORT Bread Knife features a unique ‘Wavy’ serration (rather than a pointed serration) resulting in a finer, sharper edge which requires less of sawing motion and can slice, rather than saw, through food with ease and is less destructive to both the food and cutting board . The 10” length is the perfect size to get through any loaf.
STEELPORT is proud to offer one of the only premium bread knives on the market.
The STEELPORT Bread Knife has a unique wavy "reverse" serration allowing for cutting through the toughest bread crust, while still being more gentle on other food products if used as a serrated slicer. A wavy serration is also less destructive to a cutting board than a standard pointy serration.
The curved blade and 1” heel allows for a natural cutting motion and better knuckle clearance. We found that a 10” blade is the perfect length for a bread knife. A longer blade can be unwieldy while a shorter blade requires too much of a sawing motion.
STEELPORT knives have solid one-piece traditional drop forged construction from blade tip to end cap with an integral bolster for a well-balanced and long-lasting knife. Through STEELPORT’s proprietary differential heat treatment, American 52100 Carbon Steel achieves an unmatched 65HRC hardness at the blade for exceptional long-lasting sharpness, while maintaining a softer 30HRC spine for lifelong durability. The bolster and spine are hand-polished smooth for a supremely comfortable pinch grip hold.
STEELPORT’s signature contoured handle makes cutting an enjoyable experience and not a chore. For all STEELPORT handles, we use Oregon Big Leaf Maple Burl, a locally sourced, naturally unique burl wood, stabilized with resin to meet tough kitchen requirements and won’t shrink or swell. Learn more about our unique handles on our blog.
Keep your edge protected with a custom fitted STEELPORT 10″ Bread Knife Sheath, made of caramelized Oregon Maple, and featuring an internal recessed magnet along the spine - no pin needed.
Every STEELPORT knife has a unique individuality only found in handcrafted products that use natural materials. You can now choose to further customize your STEELPORT collection by having your wooden sheaths engraved, sharing an even more personal gift. We’ll laser engrave your special message, initials, names, dates, family mottos, etc. on your sheath to mark milestone occasions, like birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, family reunions, work promotions, and more. Best Bread Knife - No Question!
The bread knife is one of the kind. All the bread knives I had used, or seeing in the market, are all afterthoughts with low quality build. Having 65 Rockwell hardness on a serrated knife is insane but the result is an amazing long-lasting knife. It’s used for so much more than just bread around our kitchen.
– Ron K.
Our new bread knife does a fabulous job of cutting both crust and crumb, both thick and thin, both fresh from the oven and day old. A knife this special should come with a sheath.
– Suzanne B.
THE bread knife
Steelport has created an absolutely amazing knife here. I have a fairly deep collection of knives and had been looking for a bread knife to add to my collection. I ended up going with Steelport for the fact that I’ve bought knives from Eytan before. Eytan taught me a lot about steels and treatments in our interactions at Portland Knife House. I have nothing but praise to give this blade. Everyone I’ve let use it, instantly raves. We call it the lightsaber. We have a sourdough that it just bites right into and tons of light buns that it glides through. The handle is a great shape and is a striking color and the design will be different each time. The blade is ground super well. I haven’t had any issue with straying and it’s so sharp there is minimal pressure being used. I recommend this knife to anyone who cuts lots of bread. Technically you could use this knife as a standard blade and it would cut whatever you put in front of it. However I’m sure Eytan’s chef’s chef knife is amazing so I’d suggest you look that direction for a proper prep knife. Thank you Eytan for the work you took to make these blades a reality. I’m sure everyone who gets their hands on one will be greatly pleased.
– Brendan M.
I bought this for my wife’s birthday, and turned out to the best thing for our kitchen! I really like the quality and how it feels in my hand. The color of the knife and the fact it’s made in the USA makes it such a great kitchen essential.
